Fishermen, cooks, fruit sellers: people defined by occupation and working tools.
Pirosmani often depicts people not through individuality, but their occupation: fishermen, cooks, fruit sellers, firewood sellers, railway workers, etc. Scholars analyze that objects in the paintings usually signal profession. His archetypal depiction of people points to the wide range of professions not only he took up, but generally were frequent in the region. Fisherman in a Red Shirt and Tatar-Fruit Seller are key examples.
