Pirosmani first arrived in Tbilisi as an orphaned child, and thereafter spent most of his life there. Hence, Old Tbilisi’s unique artisans, tavern owners, kintos, traders, and communities became common in his paintings. The paintings convey life in Old Tbilisi from his perspective.
