Accordionists, dancers, actors, and the performative life of tavern and street.
Music and dance are cornerstones of Georgian culture, and therefore is not unusual for it to appear in many of Pirosmani’s paintings, especially considering his involvement in the worlds of taverns, feasts, street, and theater. The depictions of people facilitating this culture, hence, are clear markers of performance and identity.
