Description

A village is shown in a simple rural landscape.

Cultural Note

Pirosmani’s paintings of rural labor and village life can be connected to his early life, where he worked on threshing, shepherding, harvesting, and other village work. Scholars treat the recurring depictions of rural life as one of the central iconographic families.
