Description

Molokan companions gather around a shared feast table.

Cultural Note

After his work on the railway, Pirosmani briefly ran a dukan and later painted signs for tavern and wineshop owners for food, wine, paint, or even lodging. The paintings depicting these themes, therefore, relate directly to the social economy that sustained his practice.
